What we do
We know that every single young Latin American is the unique and has their own set of challenges that they face. At Empower LATAM UK, we aim to support the needs of young Latin Americans in the UK through our three pillars.
1) Career Development
Research and discussions with members of the community shows that young Latin Americans face several factors that can make it difficult for them to develop their professional career. This includes not having a strong professional network because many in their family members work in low-paid jobs, lack of awareness of available resources and discrimination among others.

At Empower LATAM UK we strive to support the career development of every young Latin American in the UK by providing programs and events that aim to remove the barriers they face. Through these programs and events, we aim to:

Democratise key information
Connect them with Latin American role models through mentorship
Grow their confidence in themselves
Allowing them to interact and visit large companies
Provide them with educational resources (e.g. courses)
Sharing relevant opportunities (e.g. jobs, internships, events)
2) Education
Many of the barriers that young Latin Americans face in the UK come from a lack of access to key information. This can include critical things, such as how the UK education system works, how to manage their finance and what are their legal rights.

At Empower LATAM UK, we try provide young Latin Americans with access to this information through dedicated events aimed at raising awareness in these topics and by connecting them with experts.
3) Culture, Representation, and Community
Latin Americans in the UK face the constant challenge of being invisible. This invisibility comes in many shapes, including not having a representative category in Census or the general population having little knowledge of our culture. Likewise, many Latin Americans are dispersed across the UK and may find it difficult to connect to others in the community and celebrate our culture and traditions. All these challenges are amplified for young people in the community who are going through an important stages in their lives that will impact their future.

At Empower LATAM UK, we aim celebrate Latin American culture, discuss important topics relevant to the community and advocate for changes that will improve the lives of all Latin Americans. Through our focus on young people in the community, we aim to:

Promote and collaborate in research around key issues
Increase awareness of the challenges faced by the community
Create events to celebrate our rich and diverse cultures
